Furkan Ak

I am an actor and theatre director working in Turkey and Europe. I hold a BFA in Theatre (Acting) from Yeditepe University, Istanbul (2016, High Honours), and a Master’s in Drama Writing and Directing from RITCS, Brussels (2024, Distinction). I am currently pursuing a PhD at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp.

I have performed inTV and digital series including Deli Gönül (2017), Bartu Ben and Adı: Zehra (2018), and Savaşçı (2021). As a multilingual performer fluent in Turkish and English, with conversational French, I work across languages and cultures on stage and screen.

Alongside acting, I have developed a practice as a director and researcher with a focus on  transnational and interdisciplinary collaboration. Recent works include Rare Sun (Royal Flemish Theatre KVS, Brussels, 2024), a finalist for the Roel Verniers Prize at Het TheaterFestival in Belgium; Body Needs Bass (UWE Festival, Munich, 2023); and Ghostly Matters, an immersive audio walk for the Future Narratives platform. I am currently developing Ghostly Places, a VR performance supported by the Flanders Government Emerging Talent Artistic Research Grant.
