Alper Adem Yilmaz

 Growing up in a Turkish guest-worker family near Stuttgart, I found my way into the arts through my school’s musical and theatre clubs. Today, I study Physical Theatre at the Folkwang University of the Arts, which has profoundly shaped my understanding of body, presence, and performance.
 This intensive theatre work has also shown me how important film is as an accessible artistic space.
 In front of the camera, I am drawn to the opportunity to translate my artistic experiences into a clear, direct, and emotionally grounded performance style, driven by the joy of play that comes from theatre.
 Because of my background and journey so far, open access to art is essential to me. Film moves me because it reaches people who often do not see themselves reflected in traditional cultural institutions.
